Project 2 tone: Bin the tinware?

In my last installment I proved it is possible to fit a heavy weight 2.0litre aircooled engine on your tod. But not happy with the results, and armed with the knowledge of how easy it would be to drop it out again and refit.

Type 25 engine tin ware

And that’s exactly what I did!

Yep, the designer in me, forced me to strip the engine  once more and ship the tinware off to the boys at CCB ( www.collinschemicalblacking.com) for a complete overhaul

Only a few days later and the refreshed tinware has arrived back at Camper&Bus HQ. Check it out!. CCB have bead blasted the tinware, and in case of stone chips zinc plated each panel before a further double hit of black gloss powder coat. The cherry on the top comes in the form of a brand new Just Kampers (www.justkampers.com) Engine tinware seal. And to make sure I’m not stuck on the side of a road not able to jumpstart because of my weird choice of auto gearboxes, a brand new Just Kampers starter motar, straight off the shelf – Who else can offer that kind of service?

I’ll be itching to get back on this and feedback progress on the build so keep checking the blog. Otherwise you can see the progress in full, step-by-step detail in future issues of Camper&Bus magazine.
