Run To The Sun and the VolksWorld Cruise

Run To The Sun

Spirit of the Show RTTS winner 2007

Remember that Run To The Sun is this weekend (23to26 May). If you're going why not join our cruise?

Ahh it's that time of year already when we head down to the depths of Cornwall for a weekend of VWs, music, sun, sand and lots of fun!

As ever we have been asked to lead all our valued followers down to Run To The Sun in convoy so we thought we'd better let you know the plan... even if it hasn't changed in the past 6 years!

We will be meeting up at the central'ish location of Reading Services on the M4 Westbound for 9am Friday 23 May with an aim to leave at 9.30am SHARP. So make sure you're fueled up. You shouldn't be able to miss us this year as were busting out the good old faithful VolksWorld Fridolin now that's she's all better again!
Chris and Harry will be at the helm and will let you all know when the cruise is about to leave.

Once on the M4 we will cruise along at 55mph until we reach Membury Services on the M4. We will pass through at a steady crawl. If you are going to wait at this service station for us, look out for us, we don't usually stop at this one. If you're already in the cruise and need fuel again, either overtake us before we get there and join up again when we pass through or be super speedy at the pump.
We will be stopping also at Leigh Delamere Services on the M4 for 10 minutes for a quick stretch, so if you can wait, this would be the best place to re-fuel if needed.
The next stop will be at Sedgemore services on the M5 South bound. Again we will stop here for 10 minutes so the people waiting can get ready and we can wait for anyone who has been left behind.
After this we will continue down the M5 towards Exeter.

The next stop will be at Taunton Deane services on the M5 for 30 minutes to get some food. Chris or Harry will shout at you when it is time to leave.

From here we will continue down the M5 until we get to Junction 31 where we turn off on to the A30 toward Newquay.
After a good run down the A30 we will be turning on to the A39 and then take the A392 toward Newquay. The last turn off will be onto the A3058 which takes us into Newquay.

Don't worry we won't be taking any detours like last year when we decided to turn off the A30 early to avoid the Bodmin roadworks.
It worked for us who turned off but for half the convoy who carried on down the A30, well, they got stuck in traffic for quite some time!

It's pretty much a straight drive in from the M5 and is signposted all the way so any one who straggles will find their way.
Once you get to Newquay, follow the signs to Porth Beach and you should see signs to Trevelgue Holiday Park.

Job done!

Apparently the VolksWorld cruise to Run To The Sun can attract up to 1000 cars in a long 8km line, according to BBC Cornwall. A tad optimistic we'd say. Having led the cruise for many years 180 is more like it in any one constant line! Check out the BBC RTTS pre-show report here

Hi Stu,

No, we don't usually stop after taunton deane. It would probably be a good idea to in future but seeing as the convoy is already on the way we will have to stick to the plan for this year.
Have fun

Hi Simone,
In previous years we've got there for about 12-noon. Obviously it all depends on traffic.
Last year we were a little later as there were one or two in the convoy with engine problems so we hung about a bit at the previous station for them to sort their oil out.

Best advice is to get their early, bring a book or an iPod and keep an eye out for the Fridolin.

Cheers,

Jon

Hi Guys,

Any idea what time (roughly) you will be at Sedgemoor Services?!
