VW Camper and Bus Show
25 to 27 April 2008 - Santapod Raceway, Northampton
The Camper & Bus Show, sponsored by VolksWorld Camper & Bus Magazine, will be a "show within a show" at Big Bang, bringing together Camper traders, Camper fun and games and technical demonstrations all in one place. Most of the fun and games take place on Saturday, with Sunday being focused on the Show & Shine.
So what's going to be on at the Camper & Bus Show?
LOWERING DISPLAY
Over the course of Saturday and Sunday, Type Two Detectives will be lowering a camper, taking in all the steps required to make your slammed bus look sweet and drive safely. Feel free to ask questions and check up on the progress regularly. This will be taking place near the Type Two Detectives trade stand.
PIN STRIPING DEMOS
Nefarious Design is doing a running demo of pin-striping from his stand, so whether you want to witness this skillful art being done right in front of you, or if you wish, you can take your decklid, glovebox flap or gameboy along to get it pinstriped by the best in the business.
CAMPERVAN COOK-OFF Saturday 1200h-1300h
Are you a whiz in your camp kitchen? Even if you are not, you'll love watching the Camper Van cook-off, where entrants are given a bag of ingredients and 30 minutes to cook up in their Camper Vans, and create a culinary concoction to be proud about. The yummiest food as tested by our resident pig will be declared the winner!

AWNING ERECTION Saturday 1300h-1400h
Do you have problems getting it up? Then you might want to steer clear of the awning erection competition, which is a race to find a team of two who can get a Camper Van awning up in the least amount of time. Teams will go head-to-head to be the first to get their awnings up.
If you know how to handle your poles and flaps, then you might like to enter. Drop us a line at 2008@big-bang.co.uk, and tell us the name of your two team members, and give us a mobile number. We are looking for four teams of two.
BUS PULL (Big Bang's strongest man or woman) Saturday 1400h-1500h
Its simple- whoever can pull a bus tug-o-war style over a short distance in the fastest time wins! You don't need a camper to enter this one, you just need big, throbbing muscles.
Reckon you know how to pull? Just turn up and play on the day, and bring along your "cru" to cheer you on.
At 3pm, the action then moves over to the driving test track behind the spectator bank.
DRIVING TEST Saturday 1500h-1700h
Are you an expert in nicking parking places at Tesco and maneuvering your van in a way it just wasn't intended to? Well, you might like to have a crack at our handling track! Strap down the crockery and prepare to work your steering wheel if you fancy a crack at this. We'll be timing every run and giving a prize to the winner. You'll need to show your driving licence to take part, but it's FREE to enter.
Simply queue up with your camper and your license at the driving test track from 3pm on Saturday.
SMOOTHEST DRIVE Saturday 1700h-1800h
Taking in part of the driving test track, but with added obstacles and speed bumps, this test requires you to tackle a short course with a bucket of water on your roof! It's not about being the fastest (although there will be a maximum time limit) but the winner will be the person who manages to spill the least water through a combination of smooth driving and careful clutch control.
To take part, simply queue up with your camper and your license at the driving test track from 5pm on Saturday.
And lets not forget all the other attractions at the Big Bang!
