Oil Cooler
Hot oil gets too thin, so the protection it usually would offer is greatly reduced. As a result, oil pressure is reduced, which can prevent good oil circulation. When this happens, wear on engine parts can cause terminal damage and will almost certainly result in the motor needing an overhaul.
To address this problem, you can always fit an external oil cooler.
M Restorations sells a lovely cooler which is made by Derale and supplied by Scat in the US. The 10-inch electric fan blasts cool air across the 16 rows of ali pipes, to cool the oil as it passes through them. The fins are made from copper which dissipates the heat effectively. It has a powder-coated
finish and comes with anodised installation brackets for just £135. Fitting an external oil cooler will certainly extend the life of your flat four engine.
