Type 3 family

I was never any good at maths but I can see that 3 + 3 = 2... Well, it does if you’re talking about two stunning Type 3 models in one family. The family in question is the Quairiat family who hail from Malonne in Belgium. Dad Francis is 40 years old and works in the military but luckily has found time to prepare two very sweet rides indeed. We salute you, Sir!
Francis does not own both cars, however. His pride and joy is the gorgeous 1965 1500S Steel Sunroof Notchback while the Squareback is owned by his daughter Danae. Nothing unusual there I suppose, until you hear that Danae is only 7 years old. Francis bought the car for his daughter but as it will be a few years until she takes the reins he has the pleasure of using it for some time to come!
Both cars are very much in line with the Resto Cal theme. Resto Cal, for those that don’t know, is a very subtle way of adding your own personal touch to your trusty Vee-Dub without compromising its original look; in fact, one could say it is a way of enhancing a drab looking standard car without the need for all-out customising. No matter what your personal preference, you have to admit that the look works! The look itself is achieved by lowering the front suspension and, unlike Cal Look, lowering the rear suspension also. The cars tend to be fully restored to stock but recently Rat Looks have been given the Resto Cal look. Once you are satisfied that the body is in almost better condition than when it left the factory, you can go wild by adding as many period correct accessories as possible and you’re on your way to Resto Cal heaven.
