Mandy Damon is luckier than most - she can cruise around in the sun with the added benefit of being able to open the ragtop on her stunning 1956 Oval. Mandy's name may not be that familiar to many readers but her partner's name should be familiar to a few. He is Toby Hall, and he runs a website forum called www.bitswap.com with his brother Simon. These enthusiastic brothers also import some very nice VWs from South Africa and California for customers looking for rust-free projects or turnkey cars. Both Simon and Toby always have something on the go and it's always VW-related. In fact, almost every minute of their days are VW-related. Mind you, as I write this they are taking a break from VWs to go to Dublin for Simon's stag weekend.
But this is Mandy's VW, and as is often the case, Mandy was not into VWs until she went to her first show with Toby six years ago. The bug bit hard and a year later the desire to own one of these funky little cars was too much to bear. She was enjoying the shows, the chilled atmosphere and the weekends away but was lacking in one aspect: a VW itself! Mandy knew this car quite well as it was local to her, owned by Mark Williams, who had restored it a number of years ago. She never thought she would own this car and couldn't believe it when the car came up for sale and fell into her price range. A deal was done and the '56 was now hers to take to shows and to enjoy.

seems like a fine car,I like the way its not too nose-down,wich ruins the handling as its better if the back is lower than the front under braking more weight shifts to the front. Its getting a bit bit boring seeing brms EVERYWHERE,even tho they are nice, people should be less sheep like and not follow fashions like slaves.

Lovely looking bug but carrying on from John's theme concerning fashion does virtually every nice old beetle have to be so modified to suit the evolving scene. the answer sadly is yes, otherwise stagnation would have set in years ago and no firms would bother supporting our hobby. Then again there are lots of Austin 7's around and they virtually all look standard. However much some of us prefer a standard bug, restorations like those on Mandy's bug keep the merry go round afloat to continue to provide a great level of service for us nutters.
PS Fabulous looker even though i have had 4 completely standard beetles over the years. Enjoy
