Foreign Creations Club
Started by Sergio Marroquin and a group of friends in Long Beach, California in 1989 as a way of getting together and visiting local cruises, Foreign Creations quickly grew to around 40 active participants. As club president Neto Reyes puts it, "back then the club was looked upon as an innovative change for the Long Beach community." Weekly meetings began in the early '90s and the members chose Foreign Creations as the club's name because they felt it best represented their automotive interests, which back then comprised all types of VWs.
The club dwindled in the latter part of the '90s as club members moved away or started families, but in 2004 a decision was made to bring the club back with a bang. Though there's a definite Resto Cal feel to most of the club members' cars, it's not solely a Resto Cal club, as cars like Dave Pipoly's powerhouse Ghia attest. Today, Foreign Creations is made up of dedicated individuals who have put together a group of extremely high-quality cars.
Such has been the interest shown in the cars that the club has now expanded beyond its Long Beach roots and has chapters on the East Coast and in Florida and Hawaii. "We have big plans," they say, "and hope to meet everyone out in the VW world, so look for our new and upcoming rides. Foreign Creations VW Club is coming to an event near you, one VW at a time."
