Lets clear something up quickly. James' ride is actually a 1962 Beetle, not a '61 as previously believed. Sorry for any confusion!
It's a great little ride but the 1300 engine, though smooth, is a little smoky. James said "My fuel consumption is excellent but it's a shame that I'm only getting about 10mpg of oil!"
With that in mind it was time for a rebuild. Or better yet, a new engine.
Up steps Vege who gave James a very good deal indeed on a recon/new 1300 engine. And within a few days the engine was sitting on the floor of the office in it's cool little transport cage.
James stuck with a 1300 single port engine as he plans to put a Judson supercharger on it in the future. Plus, as we all know, he is our very own Captain Slow, so anything bigger is out of the question, and lets face it, a waste!
So hopefully the next time you read about James' engine it will be along the lines of 'it's in and working'.
