More on Project '60

As I'm now fitting up the front beam it was time to get the dropped spindles fitted with new king and link pin bushes.
I ordered the new king and link pin rebuild kits from GSF www.gsfcarparts.com, with their speedy next-day delivery they were ready for me to take to old friend Darren Campbell at VW Airfix (0208 6473898) to have the new bushes pressed in and reemed out so everything is nice, tight and factory fresh.

Unfortunately, while Darren was pushing out one of the old king pins the link pin carrier collapsed, rendering it scrap.
A huge thank you goes out to one of the nicest, most genuine people in the VW scene, Mr Luke Theochari from Terry's Beetle Services (0208 5673165).

Luke came to my rescue when no one else could help (kind of like the A-Team!) and supplied me with a good second-hand replacement at short notice. Luke, you are a legend - thank you once again.
A quick trip back to Darren at VW Airfix had the spindles back together, good as new and ready to go on the car.
