The Frid getting a service at VW Airfix
As some of you will know, James Peene has got the pleasure of driving the Fridolin on a daily basis at the moment and the first thing on his agenda since getting it back was to get it a darn good service.
We decided to use VW Airfix, based in Carshalton (0208 647 3898) as we know Darren is into his Aircooled VWs and we can trust him. Plus he is only five minutes down the road so it's mega handy!
James had been complaining that the Frid was having trouble idling and was running a bit rough so with this brief Darren took the Frid and had a look.
We went back yesterday evening to pick the old girl up and Darren explained that the carb idle jets had been clogged, the timing was off and the valve to rocker gaps were all out.
So after a bit of fettling the Frid is now running very smooth indeed and James reported that he had a good journey home.
He also added that it was unbelievably cold to the point his fingers turned blue!
There's nothing like driving your old VW in the winter without heaters is there?

i had one of these back in germany 1976-78 while in the usaf at zweibrucken ab.it was a blast to drive and alway handy for taking beer to partys. thanks for your great pics.
