Readers of our 20th Anniversary Special Edition might be pleased to read that the ex-Chris Jory Oval could well be hitting the show circuit once again some time in the future.
We revisited the original feature about the Oval, which appeared in Issue 1 back in '87, then tracked the car down to show readers the current state of the Oval, which was hidden at the back of someone's garden rotting away. It was in a really bad state - to the point you wouldn't even recognise it.
This sparked a mammoth number of phone calls to us in the office from people wanting to know where the car was and how they could get it so they could bring it back to its former glory. Initially, the car was not up for sale (the owner took a lot of convincing), but it has now exchanged hands. The new owner is none other than VW collector Russell Ritchie from Aberdeen, Scotland. This is great news! Hopefully, we will be seeing the car at The VolksWorld Show next year! Good luck with the project, guys!

i saw this about a week after issue 1 feature dumped in a bus stop in haywards heath. was there few days with pool of oil under back and a big chunk of filler half inch thick come off bottom of front valence. presumed tow rash. did look pretty but saw it about a few times after that and it looked like it led a hard life.
