Despite people suggesting you're allowed to have your imported VW un-registered for up to six months in the UK, we figured we best get it done sooner rather than later. Besides, even if you are graced with six months, you're still not supposed to drive the thing! So what's the point?
Getting it registered was really simple.
All you have to do is take the original registration documents along to your local DVLA office or Post Office, fill out a V55 (Used vehicle new registration form), show a valid insurance and MOT certificate then pay the vehicle registration plate fee and for either 6 or 12 months road tax. Historic vehicles obviously don't have to pay the later - result!
Usually you then wait about seven days before you get the tax disc and a stamped piece of paper with your new registration number on it so you can get your new number plates produced.
Being a historic imported vehicle though, the DVLA requested the Panzerfaust go in for a quick inspection so they could check that everything was correct and all the numbers tied up.
We're happy to say that they did and James is now waiting with anticipation for the new documents to arrive in the post!
It shouldn't be too long until the Camper&Bus project car will be 100% street legal!
