The project '61 work goes on...

...and on, and on! But I'll get by with a little help from my friends!

Jon Gilbert's 1961 VW Beetle project

Jon's dad lends a hand rubbing down some panels. His girlfriend is also there working on the rear quarter panel

Yep the work continues on project '61.
This weekend, well Saturday as it was chucking it down on Sunday, saw continued rubbing down on the body.
It is taking a lot longer than hoped - mainly due to dodging rain showers and the days are shorter but also thanks to the fact the white all-weather-paint that was brush painted on is really thick and clogs the paper up! I had to resort to 80 grit paper to get it off and even that is still hard work!
I had some helpers this week too which helped speed things up! My dad got to work on the bonnet while my girlie mad a start on the rear offside quarter panels.
I got to work on both front quarter panels and manged to prime them up and flat them back till they were very smooth. The nearside rear panel was also finished off and the inner arch is all stone chipped up and primed for paint.
If all goes to plan (yeah right) the exterior prep work should be done with one good solid weekends work! Then it's on to the inside! Oh joy!
