Steve gets busy in the garage

Steve Gosling's 1960 Beetle

Our Art Editor, Steve Gosling, has been out in his garage and made good headway on his 1960 Beetle.

We went up to Hull sometime in 2005 to fetch this 1960 Swedish import and drove it all the way home to Steve's gaff in Kent. When Steve bought it he knew it would need some work but seeing as that was the whole point of getting a new project, it didn't really matter.
The Bug has been used on and off over the last 2 years but mainly sat in Steve's garage awaiting the day it would receive a few repairs.
Well that day has now come and Steve took a week off work to get stuck in to the project.
In under three days he had the body off and stripped to see exactly what is needed to get it ship shape.
He has also started to clean up the pan.
There are lots of plans in the pipeline for the car but you will have to read about them and see how the project pans out in VolksWorld magazine!

Hi Matt,

Yes it is lowered at the front with the use of an adjustable beam.
From memory it wasn't lowered at the back at all. It would be hard to check now that the body is off the pan ;o)

Cheers,
Jon

Just wonering is this beetle lowered at all? looks like it could be abit at the front by flicking throught the new mag, but it may be due to bigger tires or lighting?

Beige against the Machine

Not all Cal Lookers need a huge engine to make their point, as this 1956 shows. Its beige bodywork, however, looks the part to a tee
