Steve’s Birthday treat

With the paint on the body shell heading towards completion at Creative Coachworks and the floorpan coming on nicely at Flatlands Engineering it was time to order up some parts so I’m ready for the big rebuild once the ‘shell and ‘pan are back in my workshop.

If there’s one company that’s synonymous with the best quality reproduction parts in the world, it’s Wolfsburg West in Corona, California. They’re a one stop shop for everything, and anything you’ll need during the rebuild of your VW. They stock, or remanufacture pretty much everything from tiny grommets, to bumpers, and all the parts in-between. Plus their website www.wolfsburgwest.com is a VW restorers encyclopaedia, hardly a day goes by without me checking something out. Needless to say when I wanted to get my first parts order for the rebuild together, I knew where I was shopping!

After several ridiculously late nights in front of the laptop going through every page on Wolfsburg West’s website I had stage one of my parts list together.

Armed with my wish list, I called the ever helpful team at Karmann Konnection. They are the UK distributors for Wolfsburg West, they stock most of the popular parts in their shop ready to ship out for next day delivery. As I wanted a specific and quite sizeable list, Julian at KK put an order in with WBW specifically for my parts. And a week and a half later my parts arrived at the KK shop in Southend (the UK version of California!). Julian went through my order to check everything was present and correct before getting my parts in a delivery truck and winging their was to my workshop.

I can’t stress strongly enough how straight forward and easy this process was and how pleased I am with the quality of the parts. There are so many cool bits that are going to make my life easier during the rebuild and the car a whole lot better once it’s finished.
