Brief update on the ’61 Ragtop

Posted by Jon on 30 January, 2008

Well after another two weekends of hard graft, a bout of concussion and a few other near misses, it looks like the ’61 will be going off to the paint shop in a couple of weeks.

With only the roof and wings left to rub down, getting the car ready in time for the painter shouldn’t be a problem.

If I hadn’t hit my head so hard it probably would have been there already. Yep, like a prize prawn, I managed to knock myself out by nutting the gutter above the door at speed. It hurt!
I didn’t pass out at that point, no! It was the second impact that did that.

While reeling backin in pain, I managed to whack the door on the other side of my head. That was the last I remember but that wasn’t the final blow. On the way down I managed to nut the dashboard too! Jeez!

Next thing I know I’m on the floor clutching my head, feeling sick and not being able to focus!

Not to worry, a trip to A&E and a few days off put me right!

Luckily the car didn’t suffer! The interior panels are all in primer now as is most of the exterior bar the roof and wings which will be finished this weekend weather permitting!

The photo above shows the last of the whie paint coming off before we primed the dash (below).

The photo below is a shot of the primered rear section inside the Bug.
